I've decided to move to InsaneJournal, for a variety of reasons. All options (move, stay, mirror) seem to have good and bad points, but for me moving to IJ seems the best choice. I couldn't get sid, but I got sidra. If you are thinking about moving to IJ yourself, please friend me
What does that mean for you? Not a whole lot. I don't post enough to mention anyway, and I'll still be checking my flist here, although maybe not as often. So why bother letting you know? Just felt like it, I guess ;)

nostalgicI've changed my mood theme!
I've been using a snupin mood theme made from Cori's snupin comics (by ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif){kind=small}
mikazuki). Although I still adore them, and think they make a great mood theme, it's been a few years now and I decided it's time for something different.
I saw some gorgeous Sentinel icons by lit_gal and she graciously gave me permission to alter her work. So I made a Blair mood theme from some of her geeks icons. Thank you lit_gal!!
I must say, though. LJ has a very strange idea of what moods should be "inherited" from one another. What genius decided that jealous should be inherited from sad but envious should be inherited from discontent? Does that make sense? Shouldn't they be together? Or that worried should be inherited from sad, but anxious & nervous from scared. They're synonyms; they shouldn't be in completely different trees.
And getting all the uncomfortables together ends up being really weird too. I can't really imagine an instance where hot and cold should get the same icon. Unless it's a really abstract icon.

geekyI tend to do very poorly at those lyrics memes, even when I know the songs in question. I think I'd do better at identifying the songs by their melodies. I'm curious as to what you all think. Can you identify music better by reading the lyrics, hearing the song (without words), or seeing the video (without sound and you can't lip-read)?

If anyone is interested, I converted the pdf file to jpg and uploaded it to my Gallery. I'm not sure how well it converted. If you'd rather have the original pdf, send me email and I'll send it to you. It uses the US holiday's. If anyone wants me to, I can recreate it fairly easily using another holiday schedule. Just let me know what country.
I'm afraid many of the photo choices were made more because that's just what I happened to have on my hard drive in high enough resolutions. But it was kinda fun to make. Now I just have to get some glossy paper, so I can print it out. It looks okay on plain paper, but it would be better on glossy...

ETA: after printing it on glossy paper (and it looks really good!) I decided that one page/month really doesn't cut it - it's too small. It looks much better with two pages/month, even if they have to be taped together. If you want the files that way, let me know...

excitedI am very strange.
I constantly read stories in which guys who are straight in real life are portrayed as gay, and without batting an eyelash. But read a story where Lance is straight and I'm totally taken aback. Why? It's fiction. There isn't anything intrinsically stranger about depicting Lance straight in a story than there is in having, for example, one of the married guys be gay (not even bi), but it just feels weirder, somehow.
I dunno. I think I've been reading slash too long...

ecstaticI've never written anything in the popslash fandom, but when I saw the SeSa announcement I started thinking about it. lauriegilbert suggested I start with a drabble and see how it went. Since she doesn't know any of the guys, I told her to pick two numbers from 1 to 10 (I ordered them by age, backstreet first), and she gave me 4 & 9 (which worked out to AJ and Lance - not exactly a popular pairing, but I liked it) and the prompt "power outage". So, here it is, my very first ficlet in that fandom...

depressedI can't believe I finally did it. Back when lj had its great journal expiration, I grabbed this username. I'd always wanted it, but then I found I had no use for it. I just don't post enough to justify a separate private journal. So today I bit the bullet and renamed my journal. Now sid is my main journal, and sidra (which I was already using for that purpose) is my fiction journal (such as it is). Hopefully this won't discommode anyone! My default icon should still identify me as me :D

thankfulAfter working seven days straight (instead of my usual 3 days a week) I'm finally back on line.
The network is up and running (mostly) at the new office and so is the replacement email server (sort of).
My cube (and the cube next to me that I use as my lab) are not unpacked.
The new building is much closer to home, and the new server room is a lot better than the old one, and the cubes are ginormous, but I'm now next to very loud professional services instead of usually quiet engineers. So overall, I'd say it's a wash.
I was able to catch up on the users on my flist, but the comms are just going to have to stay not caught up. I'm glad I thinned my flist the other day. Just reading users and not comms I was still skip 100.
Sorry to everyone I've blown away over the last few days.
relievedWorked ten hours straight yesterday (noon to 10pm). Network is still flaky. Will have to go back today, but I can't sleep. Slept from 1:45 to 4:45. meep. Three hours is not enough. Super way behind on LJ. Modified my LJ layout to extremely plain (although I couldn't give up my mood icons...) so it's not obvious what I'm reading. 'Cause I'm not going to be at the end of a private corridor in the new office, and my back will be to the door. Sigh. I hate it when people can sneak up behind me and look over my shoulder. Why am I so thirsty? Guess I'll go try to sleep again...
